What to Expect During Your CT Scan
Before Your CT Scan
- •Follow any preparation instructions we provide when booking
- •Tell us if you are pregnant or may be pregnant
- •Let us know about kidney problems, diabetes, allergies or any previous reaction to contrast
- •You may need to remove jewellery or change into a gown
During Your CT Scan
- •Most appointments take around 10-30 minutes
- •You will lie on a padded table that moves through the scanner
- •You may be asked to remain still or briefly hold your breath
- •The scanner will move around you and you will not feel anything
After Your CT Scan
- •You can return to your normal activities immediately
- •Our specialist radiologist will review your images
- •Your report will be sent to your referring practitioner on the same day or by the following day

Most CT appointments take between 15 and 30 minutes from arrival to completion. The scan itself is typically very quick - often just a few minutes - however, additional time may be needed for preparation, positioning, or if contrast dye is being used.

Yes. We recommend you book your appointment for a CT scan prior to coming in to ensure you do not need to wait long. We offer same day appointments, so will be able to fit you in quickly! Feel free to contact us and our team will be happy to assist you.
Your doctor will typically receive your results on the same day as your scan, or the following day at the latest. If your scan is marked urgent, results are generally available within 4 hours.

A CT scan uses a small amount of ionising radiation. The dose is carefully controlled and considered safe for diagnostic purposes.
