Low Dose CT
A CT (computed tomography) scan is a medical imaging modality which uses X-rays and advanced computer processing to produce detailed, cross-sectional images of the inside of your body. Unlike a standard X-ray, a CT scan captures images from multiple angles, allowing your doctor to see bones, soft tissue, organs, and blood vessels in much greater detail.The procedure is quick, non-invasive, and painless.

What to Expect During Your Low Dose CT
Before Your CT Scan
- •Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to your appointment
- •Remove jewellery, glasses, belts, and metal objects before the scan
- •If contrast dye is required, you may be asked to fast for a few hours beforehand - our team will advise you when booking
- •Please bring your referral form and Medicare card
During Your CT Scan
- •You will lie flat on a padded table that moves slowly through the CT scanner - a large, open, ring-shaped machine
- •Our skilled radiographer will position you carefully to ensure the correct area is captured
- •The scanner rotates around you, taking images from multiple angles
- •You may be asked to hold your breath briefly at certain points to help produce the sharpest images possible
- •The scan itself takes only a few minutes, though your total appointment time may be slightly longer depending on the area being examined
After Your CT Scan
- •Fast and painless procedure

Most CT appointments take between 15 and 30 minutes from arrival to completion. The scan itself is typically very quick - often just a few minutes - however, additional time may be needed for preparation, positioning, or if contrast dye is being used.
Yes. All our CT scans are completely bulk billed. Please ensure you bring your valid Medicare card and a referral form from your doctor.
Yes. We recommend you book your appointment for a CT scan prior to coming in to ensure you do not need to wait long. We offer same day appointments, so will be able to fit you in quickly! Feel free to contact Bright Radiology and our team will be happy to assist you.
Your doctor will typically receive your results on the same day as your scan, or the following day at the latest. If your scan is marked urgent, results are generally available within 4 hours.
